Gaurishankar Singh Shines As The Devoted Gopal Das In Shree Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj

Mumbai: In the upcoming spiritual biopic Shree Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, directed by Sharad Singh Thakur, actor Gaurishankar Singh delivers a deeply moving performance as Gopal Das — a humble shepherd and one of the earliest devotees to recognize the divine aura of Neem Karoli Baba.

Gaurishankar Singh, known for his recent appearance in The Taj Story alongside Paresh Rawal, steps into a role rooted in unwavering faith, simplicity, and lifelong devotion. His portrayal of Gopal Das forms the emotional backbone of the narrative, capturing the essence of a disciple whose belief transcends the ordinary.

The film marks Singh’s second collaboration with acclaimed actor Subodh Bhave after their work together in Sant Tukaram. In Shree Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, Singh’s character remains a constant presence in Baba’s life — from his formative spiritual years to his later journey toward Kainchi Dham. Sharing the screen with Mohit Gupta, who portrays the younger Baba, and Bhave as the elder Maharaj, Singh seamlessly bridges the timelines, embodying loyalty and spiritual surrender.

Shot across visually rich locations including Bhor, Nashik, and Prayagraj, the film meticulously recreates key moments from Baba’s life. A significant highlight of Singh’s performance is his portrayal of Gopal Das assisting in the construction of Baba’s original cave and temple — a testament to his selfless service and dedication.

Speaking about the role, Gaurishankar Singh expressed, “Playing Gopal Das has been one of the most spiritually enriching experiences of my career. His journey is not just about devotion, but about surrendering oneself completely to a higher purpose. I feel honoured to bring his story to life on screen.”

With Shree Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, Gaurishankar Singh delivers a performance that is both grounded and spiritually uplifting — reminding audiences of the power of faith, humility, and unconditional devotion.

The film is all set for a Pan-India theatrical release, promising to resonate deeply with audiences seeking stories of spirituality and inner awakening.
